ig Into Europe 08 :: May-June 2008
Ian and Kim travel to Europe to visit radio stations, recording studios, and luthiers, and to check all sort of music, from string bands to choirs.

The Cabana to Rise Again :: April 2008
Ian and six other reprobates have taken over the lease of the old Cabana hotel in Napier. The Cabana was one of New Zealand's classic rock venues, and we're going to get it rocking again!

Kim on the Radio :: March 2008
Kim is co-hosting Hawke's Bay Classic Hits' "Martin & Kim's Classic Breakfast", the highest-rating show in the Bay.

Kim at the Mission :: March 2008
Kim and fellow When the Cat's Away members Debbie Harwood and Margaret Urlich are performing at this year's Mission Concert, on March 1 at the Mission Estate Winery in Napier. Tom Jones tops the bill, with Jimmy Barnes also appearing.

Come On The Bay!! :: September 2007
Ian and Kim have written an anthem for Sport Hawke's Bay. Hammond Gamble flew down from Auckland to spend a most pleasant day at the igStudio recording the vocals, and the Mad Magpies provided backing chants. Have a listen!

Ian Working With Daniel Munro :: August 2007
Ian has started recording with young Napier singer-songwriter Daniel Munro. Daniel is a huge talent and is sure to go a long way.

Th' Dudes DVD :: July 2007
Th'Dudes release a double DVD featuring th' band live at the St James Theatre Auckland, and "Right Second Time", the 90 minute documentary that follows th' lads around NZ on their 2006 reunion tour. The doco features plenty of archival footage, and interviews with the band, old friends, and numerous famous personages.

Pop's Ultimate Star :: May 2007
Watch out for Kim on TV2's Sunday evening prime time show "Pop's Ultimate Star", beginning May 27. Not only does Kim dress and style the performers, she also coaches them in stage-craft, and is on the judging panel!

New Web Site Launched :: March 2007

Th' Dudes Live Album :: December 2006
Th' Dudes have released a live album of their recent tour. Mixed by Ian at the igStudio, "Th' Dudes Live - Th' Reunion Tour 2006" is available now.

Wine, Kim, and Song :: November 2006
Kim was the special guest entertainer at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards, the country's major wine show, held this year in Napier.

Kim Presents Business Awards :: November 2006
Kim was the evening's presenter for the Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce annual Business Awards. Of course, she sang a few songs too.

Th' Dudes Tour a Cracker! :: October 2006
Th' Dudes nationwide tour played to packed houses and rave reviews up and down th' country. There's a whole bunch of tour photos on Th' Dudes website.

Fashion in the Field :: October 2006
Kim was guest Fashion in the Field judge at Hastings Racing Club's October meeting.

Th' Dudes Reunion Tour :: October 2006
Wow! Th' Dudes are gettin' back together after 26 years! To celebrate Radio Hauraki's 40th anniversary, Th' Dudes are reforming to tour the country with fellow NZ icons Hammond Gamble and Hello Sailor. More details on Th' Dudes' website.

Give It Another Whirl :: May - June 2006
Give It A Whirl II is the second six-part Television New Zealand series charting the history of New Zealand rock music. Ian composed the theme music, and talked on the show about his records "The Game of Love", as Tex Pistol", and "Bliss", with Th' Dudes.

NZ Music Month :: May 2006
May is New Zealand Music month, and as part of the celebrations Kim joined fellow Cat Debbie Harwood for two special concerts at Auckland's Sky City Casino.

Waikato Breast Cancer Trust :: April 2006
Kim was the star performer on the night of the Bejewelled Bra Ball, a fabulously deluxe charity event organised by NZ fashion designer Annah Stretton.

Ian Rocks with ex-Crocs :: December 2005 - January 2006
Ex-members of 1970/80s NZ "New Wave" band the Crocodiles reunited in Napier to record an album's worth of songs. Fane Flaws, Tony Backhouse and Peter Dasent gathered in Fane's house and - in between the usual Christmas jingling - Ian's been overseeing the recording sessions.

Ian's working with NZ singer-songwriter Greg Johnson again, arranging orchestral parts for Greg's new album, recorded in Los Angeles.

Vodafone New Technology Roadshow :: October 2005
Kim has been hosting the roll-out of Vodafone's latest 3G technology at a nationwide roadshow.

IBANZ Awards :: September 2005
Kim presented and performed a tailor-made show based on the musical "Grease" for the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand "Broker of the Year" Awards, sponsored by Vero.

Greatest Photoshop Photo Tips EVER :: September 2005
So it has nothing to do with music. Ian has been spending some time scanning old negatives and editing more recent digital snapshots, so feels qualified to list what he considers are the greatest Photoshop tips EVER.

My Black Jersey :: July 2005
The Lions rugby team are touring New Zealand in June and July 2005. Ian composed music for a 60" Ford TV commercial featuring the All Blacks, and Ford liked it so much they wanted to release it as a single! "My Black Jersey " is performed by Papa-Pa from right here in Hawke's Bay. Whaddyaknow - it's a top 20 hit! More info on Ian's pages.

Winter Solstice :: June 2005
Kim made a star performance in front of several thousand hardy souls at the Napier Winter Solstice Fire Festival, celebrating the Southern Hemisphere's shortest day. The event is held every year at Napier's Art Deco sound-shell and features fire dancers, fire walkers, tribal drumming, and plenty of ancient ritual. Kim's song? Springsteen's "Fire", of course.

Kim and Ian travelled to Europe to check out Irish traditional music and Italian brass bands, and to research Italian recording studios.

Ford Mondeo TV Commercial :: March 2005
One of Ian's first tasks on setting up the new igStudio was to rescore a British commercial for Ford Mondeo. You can see it on Ian's advertising music page.

igMusic On The Move.  March 2005
We've moved to Napier, a swell city in Hawke's Bay in the North Island of New Zealand. Napier is famous for its art deco architecture and its vineyards, though not necessarily in that order.

New Retail Spots :: February 2005
Ian composed two new jingles for national retailers Arbuckles and Postie Plus, for Hyde Group of Auckland.

Orchestral Manouevres in the Park :: December 2004
Ian arranged tunes for the annual Christmas in the Park extraveganza, held in the Auckland Domain in front of a quarter of a million people.

Orchestral Shennanegins :: October 2004
Ian arranged "Asian Paradise" for the Auckland Philharmonia's "Symphonic Rock" concert in October. As Ian produced When the Cat's Away's hit version in 2001, MD and conductor Penny Dodd thought he would be the ideal bloke for the job.

The Milky Bars Are On Me! :: August 2004
It's always an honour to work on iconic brands, and in August Ian scored a TV commercial featuring the (ageless) Milky Bar Kid for J. Walter Thompson. No longer a geeky cowboy, the Kid is now a handsome dude with laser eyes who fights bullies. There's also a pic in the gallery of the kids who came to sing the famous tag-line. Of coourse, they demanded payment in Milky Bars.

Ian Morris Live Performances :: July 2004
Ian plays two solo gigs on July 2 and 3 at the Grand Hotel, Helensville, supporting old mucker Dave Dobbyn. Not only Ian's first solo gigs for some years, but also the debut of Dave's new band featuring bass player Bones Hillman (ex Midnight Oil) and drummer Ross Burge (ex Muttonbirds).

Ian Produces New Holden Spot :: June 2004
Ian took on arranging, producing and mixing duties when Dave Dobbyn re-recorded his 1980s hit "Love You Like I Should" for a new GM Holden tv campaign for agency Meares-Taine.

Kim, Catwalk Queen :: May 2004
A glam night saw Kim and other celebreties modelling fab designer clothes, which were auctioned to raise money for St Joseph's Hospice in Auckland.

Ian Records Evita Promo :: May 2004
The Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Weber musical "Evita" returns to NZ theatres in August, and NZ Idol finalist Jessie Cassin has earned herself a starring role. Ian and musical arranger Penny Dodd recorded Jessie singing "Another Suitcase" for single release.

20/20 Theme Music :: April 2004
For the new season of TV3's current affairs show "20/20", executive producer and Qantas Media Award winner Terence Taylor commissioned Ian to compose a new theme.

The Voice Of B.E.E :: April 2004
Kim, along with actor Joel Tobeck, recorded voice-overs for the fab new range of environmentally friendly cleaning products manufactured by B.E.E. - Beauty Engineered for Ever.

A Jingly Time :: April 2004
It's been a jingly old time at the igStudios, and Christmas still eight months away! Ian composed television and radio spots for Foodtown-Woolworth's "Signature Range" in-house brand, and for Woolworth's QuickStop and Micro convenience stores.

Orchestral Hi-jinks :: February 2004
The annual Sky City Starlight Symphony attracts upwards of 200,000 people to Auckland's Domain for an evening of light classics with the Auckland Philharmonia. This year Ian (aka Tex Pistol) and Rikki Morris will be along for the ride too, performing their number one hits "Game of Love" and "Nobody Else". I can't wait to hear the tymps play that bass-line.

Local Icon Relaunched :: December 2003
One of New Zealand's oldest and best-loved retail stores, Rendells, has been relaunched with new stores and a new image. Hyde Group creative director Peter Cronin engaged Ian to write a jingle for the rebranding. It features the fabulous Fiona McDonald (ex-Headless Chickens and Strawpeople) on vocals, and you can hear it on the showreel page.

Never Goin' Back to My Old School :: December 2003
To celebrate its centennial, Ian's old school Sacred Heart College in Auckland held concerts over two nights in late November 03. SHC is known for encouraging the musical arts, and amongst old boys who performed at the concerts were Ian, Dave Dobbyn, Rikki Morris, Peter Urlich, Neil Finn and son Elroy, Larry Morris, and Mike and Geoff Chunn. 'Tis (Nearly) the Season.. :: November 2003
With Christmas fast approaching it's time for Ian to get out the sleigh bells and "Christmas-ize"  those advertising jingles. Chief inspiration: Phil Spector's Christmas Album.

Kim and Cat-mate Debbie Harwood performed at the celebrity Fight for Life fundraiser for suicide awareness.

New Zealand Rock 'n' Roll Stories :: July 2003
Ian composed the theme tune for the TV1 series "Give It A Whirl", produced by Visionary TV & Film. The show traces the history of NZ rock music through the stories of the people involved.

Queenstown Winter Festival '03 :: August 2003
Kim and fellow When the Cat's Away star Debbie Harwood performed at the Grand Ball, the culmination of the annual Queenstown Winter Festival held in this spectacular ski resort town in New Zealand's South Island.

Music and Tracklay for Sony Thailand :: July 2003
Oliver Maissey of GeneratorBates and director Chris Dudman of Silverscreen Productions engaged Ian and long-time collaborator Callie Blood to compose and produce soundtracks for Sony Wega, for broadcast in Thailand.

All In The Family :: July 2003
TV3's "The Family" is a hilarious fly-on-the-wall look at an eccentric - and filthy rich - New Zealand family. Ian's theme music for this Visionary TV-produced show is in a grand mock-Western style and features the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra.
