About Strawberry Hill

Strawberry Hill is located in Napier, Hawke's Bay, the heart of New Zealand's premier wine-growing area.

What started as a ceramics painting and materials company quickly developed - in this landscape of vineyards and orchards - into a service supplying custom-decorated tasting glasses for the many wineries dotting the region. From there we grew to provide a similar service for businesses, schools, clubs and other community organisations requiring elegant - and useful! - promotional and commemorative items.

About the Process

Initially we copy a logo, or design a new one, to be presented to the customer for approval. The design can be printed in multi-colour, though single colour is the norm. This design is then printed with special inks at actual size and formed into a water slide transfer or decal. These are transferred individually by hand onto the glassware or porcelain and fired in a kiln at very high temperatures for some hours. The resulting design product is extremely durable and dishwasher-safe.

The glassware we use is of the highest quality, manufactured in France. Mugs are made in Thailand and China, other porcelain is from Australia and England.

Because of the printing process, the minimum order quantity is usually 125, but this is negotiable for special items. Prices vary according to the complexity of the design and the quality of the glass or porcelain. Turnaround is within two to three weeks of customer approval of the presentation.
